The Saudi Arabian Football Federation agreed with the scholarship program developing football talents to terminate the use of Dutchman Damien Hertog, the program’s coach, who was used to coach the under-19 national team during the 2020 AFC Asian Cup finals that were to be held in Uzbekistan in October.

The decision of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation came due to the AFC's decision to postpone the tournament until next year due to the circumstances of the Coronavirus, and due to the desire of the scholarship program to benefit from his services during this period.

The SAFF also decided to agree with the national coach, Saleh Al-Mohammadi, to coach the under-19 team national team, during the next period, which includes many competitions, most notably the U-19 AFC Cup in Uzbekistan, as he will follow up the players with the launch of the Saudi Premier League for youth under 19 year next Saturday.

Al-Mohammadi, who holds a PRO training certificate, has a long training experience that began in 2009, as he trained several youth teams, achieving a number of achievements, most notably leading the Olympic National Team to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup in China 2018, and he was an assistant coach for the U-20 youth team who qualified for the World Cup "South Korea 2017", in addition to working with a number of youth teams as an assistant in the coaching staff.

For his part, the President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al Misehal, thanked the Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, for his support for the national teams, and for overcoming all obstacles in order to achieve the aspirations of Saudi football, which witnessed a lot of achievements at the national team level during the past period.

The president of the federation also thanked the director of the scholarship program, Hisham Tashkandi, for his great cooperation with the SAFF over the past period, wishing the program more success.

For his part, the supervisor of the youth teams, Dr. Khaled bin Muqrin, thanked the Dutch coach Hertog and his team for their efforts during the camps of Abha, Taif and Croatia, wishing them success in completing the scholarship program in Spain.
