The 8th U-20 Arab Cup kicks off in Abha on Wednesday

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the eighth edition of the Under-20 Arab Cup, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of 18 teams kicks off.

Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City stadium in Abha and Damak Club stadium in Khamis Mushait Governorate will host the championship matches, which will continue until August 6th.

Our national team and its Mauritanian brother will play the opening match of the tournament when they meet at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz City Stadium in the first group, at 5 PM on Wednesday, followed by the match between UAE and Jordan in the second group at 9 PM at Damak Club Stadium.

The draw of the tournament put the national team at the top of the first group with Iraq and Mauritania, while the second group included UAE, Jordan and Yemen.

The third group included Algeria, Lebanon and Libya, while the fourth group included Egypt, Oman and Somalia, Tunisia, Bahrain and Djibouti came in the fifth group, while the sixth group included Morocco, Palestine and Somalia.

The Saudi national team, the host, enters the tournament as the holder of the title, which was crowned in the last edition that was held in Egypt last year, after its victory Algeria in the final match.

The national team is the most crowned national team with the under-20 Arab Cup alongside Morocco with two titles each, while it's the most qualified for the final on 5 occasions in the past seven editions.

The first edition of the tournament was held in Morocco in 1983, and Iraqi national team won its title after its victory over the national team, while the national team won the title of the second edition in 1985 after defeating hosts Algeria in the final match.

Iraq hosted the third edition in 1989 and was crowned by Morocco national team after defeating Iraq in the final match, the same team also won the title of the fourth edition hosted by Morocco in 2011 after defeating the national team in the final match.

The fifth edition was held in Jordan in 2012, and Tunisia national team was crowned with its title after defeating the national team in the final match, while the Kingdom hosted the sixth edition in 2020 and Senegal national team was crowned with its title after defeating Tunisia in the final match.
