The NT U-23 national team will participate in Toulon Tournament next June

The under-23 national team will participate in Maurice Revello International Tournament (Toulon Tournament) from 5 to 18 June, in preparation for the qualifiers for the U-23 AFC Asian Cup 2024.

The national team is in Group A, next to France, Venezuela and Costa Rica.

The under-23 national team will open its participation in Toulon Tournament against France on Monday, June 5, then faces Venezuela on Thursday, June 8, and on Sunday, June 11, the national team will face Costa Rica.

Toulon Tournament is part of the preparation program for the Asian qualifiers, which will start in September, and qualifies for the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar 2024, which qualifies for the Olympic Games (Paris 2024).

Coach of the under-23 national team, Saad Al-Shehri, explained that Toulon Tournament is one of the high level friendly tournaments, with the participation of teams from different continents of the world, hoping that the participation will achieve the desired technical goals.

Al-Shehri added: “We deal with all friendly tournaments with clear technical goals, and through them we always draw technical ideas and strategies that we will work on during the official events, and we have also benefited from them in the past period by participating in the friendly tournaments in Croatia and Qatar by scouting new players, and this is an important point for us in the preparation stages until we reach the best list to represent the national team in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers”.

Saad Al-Shehri indicated that they will continue to work through Toulon Tournament with the same technical ideas, strategies and playing style that were previously worked on, with the aim of achieving good technical performance, pointing to the importance of appearing at a high technical level coupled with positive results.

Coach of the U-23 national team indicated that all teams are working and preparing technically during this period in order to achieve the goal of reaching the Olympic Games (Paris 2024), stressing that the participation in the Toulon Tournament will have a great technical impact due to the strength of competition, and the high levels of the participating national teams, in order to find out the mistakes and correct them, and the clarity of the positive work.

Regarding the importance of preserving the AFC Asian Cup title and reaching the Olympic Games, Al-Shehri said: "The players feel the importance of preserving the title and reaching the Olympic Games again, and we will work to enhance the positives and correct the mistakes and negatives in order to reach optimal readiness before the Asian battle".
