The U-13 Regional Teams Championship in Al-Taif kicks off

The regional U-13 national team championship competitions kicked off this Thursday evening, hosted by Al-
Taif Governorate during the period from July 18 to 30, and organized by the Saudi Arabian Football
Federation.
Today, 6 matches were held for the first and second groups, where Al-Qassim tied with Al-Sharqiya 0-0, in a
match that witnessed Fadel Abbas, the Al-Sharqiya team player, winning the player of the match award, while
Al-Ahsa won over Hail with a score of 1-0, and Al-Ahsa player Ahmed Al-Muza’il won the player of the match
award.
While Najran tied with Al-Jawf with a goal each, and Al-Jawf player Dahham Al-Shammari won the player of
the match award.
Al-Madina also defeated Tabuk with a score of 3-0, and Al-Madina’s player Muhammad Al-Muqri won the Best
Player award, while Riyadh won over Hafar Al-Batin with a score of 7-0 and their player Saif Ahmed won the
Best Player award, while Asir defeated Mecca with a clean goal and player Muhammad Hussein won the Best
Player award.
Tomorrow, Friday, 6 matches will be held, combining Al-Sharqiya with Najran, Jazan with Al-Qassim, Al-Ahsa
with Al-Jawf, Tabuk with Asir, Jeddah with Medina, and Riyadh with Mecca.
It is noteworthy that the tournament aims to discover football talents, and determine the readiness of the
players in preparation for their qualification and participation in friendly tournaments for the age group
teams, in order to create a next generation in Saudi football.
This tournament comes within the efforts of the Saudi Federation to achieve one of the goals of the Saudi
football transformation strategy, which is the process of discovering talent and refining their skills by
developing the age groups in addition to increasing the number of practice hours for players and the
interaction between them.
It also aims to intensify efforts to discover talents at an early age and work to pursue and develop them in the
future.
