Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq and Syria qualify for the semi-finals of WAFF Championship

Today, Friday, the group stage of the U-23 West Asian Football Federation Championship 2021 were concluded with 5 matches for the last round.

Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq qualified for the semi-finals after taking the lead in the three groups, while the Syrian national team qualified as the best second place, taking advantage of the tournament system, which cancel the result of the match of the second-placed team with the fourth in the first and second groups.

The national team will face Iraq national team in the semi-finals, while the Jordanian national team will face Syria in the second semi-final match, knowing that the two matches will be held on Sunday.

The national team topped the third group after its victory over Bahrain 3-0, through Hamad Al Yami, Abdullah Radif and Muhammad Khalil Maran in the 48th, 54th and 73rd minutes, respectively, to qualify with a full score of 6 points.

The Jordanian national team qualified for the semi-finals after topping the first group after beating Yemen 2-1, as Abdullah Al-Shuaibat and Muhammad Abu Rizeq scored for Jordan in the 36th and 88th minutes, respectively, while Omar Al-Dahli scored for Yemen in the 42nd minute.

And for the same group, a 1-1 draw between Kuwait and Oman match was finished, as Abdullah Al Balushi scored for the Omani national team in the 53rd minute, while Bandar Al-Salama scored for Kuwait in the 90+6 minute.

The Jordanian national team topped the group with 6 points, while the Yemeni national team came second with 4 points, with a goal difference from Oman, while the Kuwaiti national team came fourth with two points.

The Iraqi national team won topped the second group after a draw with Lebanon 2-2, as Zidane Iqbal and Ahmed Omar scored for Iraq in the 14th and 55th minutes, while Lebanon's two goals were scored by Mohamed Nasser in the 33rd and 45th minutes.

The Palestinian national team defeated UAE, with a goal scored by Badr Musa in the 16th minute.

With this result, the Iraqi national team raised its score to 7 points in the lead, while the Palestinian national team came second with 6 points, and UAE national team came third with 3 points, while the Lebanese national team came fourth with one point.
