The Saudi Reserve League, in its first edition, will resume its matches tomorrow, Friday, after a 2-month stoppage, with the suspension of the Roshn Professional League, for the national team’s participation in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Tomorrow, Friday, two matches will be held, as Al-Wahda will face Abha at King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, while Al-Shabab will face Al-Ta’i at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium.
Abha match is the first for Al-Wahda in this competition, which has been held so far with 6 matches, while Abha leads the competition with 7 points from 3 matches, followed by Al-Fayhaa with 4 points from 3 matches, while Al-Fateh comes third with 3 points from two matches, with a goal difference from Al-Ta’i, the fourth from two matches, and Ettifaq and Al-Shabab come in the fifth and sixth positions, with one point from two matches.
Seven clubs are participating in the first edition of the Reserve League, which are Al-Shabab, Ettifaq, Abha, Al-Fateh, Al-Fayhaa, Al-Ta'i and Al-Wahda. .
The Saudi Arabian Football Fderation granted the clubs participating in the reserve league many advantages, most notably obtaining financial support of two million riyals, in addition to league prizes totaling two million and 825 thousand riyals, in addition to increasing the number of players registered in the first team list from 30 to 35 players.
The launch of the Saudi Reserve League aims to increase the actual playing minutes of the players, and help increase the minutes of play for the reserve players in highly competitive matches, and the participation of young players in stronger matches, as well as the gradual return for injured players.
