
The Saudi Reserve League: Ettifaq and Al-Fateh beat Al-Shabab and Al-Fayha

Today, Saturday, the Saudi Reserve League 2022-2023 in its first edition resumed with two matches, as Al-Fateh faced its guest Al-Fayha, while Al-Shabab faced its counterpart, Ettifaq.
Al-Fateh achieved a 3-1 victory over Al-Fayha at Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium, as Ali Hassan Al-Masoud and Alex Valera (two goals) scored for Al-Fateh, while Yahya Mohsen Al-Surour scored the only goal for Al-Fayha.
With that result, Al-Fateh rose to the second place with 9 points from 4 matches, one point behind leaders Abha, which played 5 matches, while Al-Fayha’s balance stopped at 7 points in third place.
At Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Stadium in Riyadh Club, Al-Shabab lost to its guest, Ettifaq, 1-3, as Youssef Nyakati and Nawaf Hazazi scored for the guests, while the third goal came as own goal, while the only goal for Al-Shabab was scored by Faris Al-Qarzai.
Ettifaq achieved its first victory in the reserve league, raising its score to 4 points in fourth place from 3 matches, while Al-Shabab’s balance stopped at only two points in seventh place.
Seven clubs are participating in the first edition of the Reserve League, which are Al-Shabab, Ettifaq, Abha, Al-Fateh, Al-Fayha, Al-Tai and Al-Wahda. .
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation granted the clubs participating in the reserve league advantages, most notably obtaining financial support of two million riyals, in addition to league prizes totaling two million and 825 thousand riyals, in addition to increasing the number of players registered in the first team list from 30 to 35 players.
The endorsement of the Saudi Reserve League aims to increase the actual playing minutes of the players, and help increase the minutes of play for the reserve players in highly competitive matches, and the participation of young players in stronger matches, as well as in the gradual return of injured players.
