The FIFA Series 2024 Saudi Arabia™ will kick off this Thursday evening. For the first time, the event hosted by Saudi Arabia will feature two groups aligning with the ongoing FIFA international match days.
FIFA has announced its support for its member federation in facilitating a set of international friendly matches. These games will include the participation of four national teams from diverse continental federations and will all take place in a single host country, with Saudi Arabia accommodating two such groups.
Jeddah is poised to welcome the teams, staging the matches at the reserve stadium of King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sport City Stadium, scheduled from March 21 to March 26 this year.
In the lineup, the first group will see the teams from Cape Verde (Confederation of African Football), Cambodia (Asian Football Confederation), Equatorial Guinea (Confederation of African Football), and Guyana (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football), while the second group will host Bermuda (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football), Brunei Darussalam (Asian Football Confederation), Guinea (Confederation of African Football), and Vanuatu (Oceania Football Confederation).
The teams participating in the series have already started arriving at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, readying themselves for the kickoff next Thursday. They are holding their practice sessions at the training facilities of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
This event is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Saudi and international football federations, aimed at enhancing the global football landscape. It aligns with FIFA's developmental strategies, particularly focusing on national team advancement and providing ample opportunities for their technical growth.
Saudi Arabia is gearing up to welcome two groups for this project, reinforcing its status as a prime location for significant global sports events. The country has recently been the venue for a variety of major tournaments, including the FIFA Club World Cup, the Spanish and Italian Super Cups, the West Asian Women's Championship, and it has announced it will hold the 2027 Asian Cup, leading up to its bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
