The Referees Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), continues its efforts to develop and qualify promising referees, as 465 referees participate in leading the Youth League matches for age groups under 11, 12, 13 and 14 years old during the current season 2024-2025.
This comes within the Federation's vision to hone young refereeing talents and give them the opportunity to gain field experience by managing competitive matches, which contributes to preparing them for higher levels in the future.
This step comes within the framework of developing refereeing, as promising referees recently underwent four intensive training courses held in the city of Dammam, each of which lasted for three days, where they were divided into groups to receive theoretical lectures and practical applications under the supervision of an elite group of international lecturers.
It is worth noting that since the start of the current season, promising referees have taken charge of 2,041 matches, distributed over 344 matches in the U-11 Youth League, 362 matches in the U-12 Youth League, 588 matches in the U-13 Youth League, and 747 matches in the U-14 Youth League, reflecting the Federation's confidence in these young talents who are being prepared according to a clear plan to develop their refereeing capabilities.
Manuel Navarro, Chairman of the Referees Committee, stressed that this step reflects the Federation's commitment to developing local refereeing and qualifying promising referees to be part of the future of Saudi football.
"Today, we are witnessing the participation of a large number of promising referees in the youth competitions, which represents the culmination of the efforts made during the past period to qualify new refereeing cadres. This experience gives referees increasing opportunities to learn and develop, and paves the way for the emergence of distinguished names in the near future.", Navarro said.
