The draw for the 2026 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers was held today, Monday, at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The national women's youth team will participate for the first time since its inception.
The draw for the qualifiers, which will take place from August 2 to 10, placed the Green Falcons in Group A alongside Bhutan (the group host), North Korea, Nepal, and Mongolia.
According to the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup format, the host team, Thailand, qualifies directly, along with the group winners and the three best second-placed teams.
These qualifiers represent a transitional phase for our promising national team, an opportunity to develop skills and gain exposure to build a competitive team capable of delivering outstanding performances and presenting a picture that reflects the development of women's football, which officially began in 2019 before the launch of the women's youth team in 2023.
Since its inception, the Saudi team have played nine matches, winning two, drawing two, and losing five.
The team's goals are to contribute to preparing a competitive generation for the future and to serve as a pillar for the senior team, which is preparing for its first participation in the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026.
