On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Saudi Arabia women's national team concluded its preparatory camp in Taif Governorate.
The camp, which had been ongoing since May 25, was part of the intensive preparations for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
The camp featured a variety of daily training sessions under the leadership of Spanish coach Luis Cortes.
The technical staff focused on improving physical and technical readiness, in addition to playing a closed-door friendly match against Bahrain, which ended with a 1-0 victory for the Saudi team, in a game that provided a useful technical experience before the start of the qualifiers.
Cortes expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the camp, praising the players' discipline and development over the past period, and emphasizing the importance of continuing to work at the same pace in the next phase.
Aliyah bint Abdulaziz Al-Rasheed, Director of the Women's Football Department at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), also expressed her appreciation for the efforts made, saying, "The camp was a key milestone in our preparations, and we look forward to a distinguished performance that reflects the team's development and ambition in the qualifiers."
The national team is preparing to enter the second phase of its preparations, with an external training camp in Thailand, before heading to Cambodia for the Asian qualifiers.
The qualifiers will be held in a group format from June 26 to July 6, and will include Cambodia, the Philippines, and Hong Kong.
